I’m Vanessa, a recent PhD, writer, and loss mama. My daughter, Leah, was born on June 21, 2016 by emergency cesarean section. During the final days of my full term pregnancy she suffered a massive fetomaternal hemorrhage, resulting in severe brain damage and anemia. My husband and I spent 33 precious hours with her outside the womb before she breathed her last breath in my arms. This blog documents my experience of loss and my ongoing grief journey as a bereaved mother.
